OPG KOČET has entered the register of agricultural holdings in 2003 and is engaged in crop and livestock production activities. The holder of the family farm since 2015 is Zoran Kočet (24 years old), who 3 years ago made significant investments in the modernization and improvement of the process of working on the family farm by investing in the procurement of new and modern agricultural equipment and machinery.
The family farm is engaged in plant production and animal husbandry and, according to its size, currently belongs to small family farms. The family farm cultivates 6.15 ha of agricultural land, of which 0.13 ha potatoes, 0.69 ha corn, 0.29 ha other oilseeds, 0.06 ha alfalfa and clover, 4.49 ha grass, 0.07 ha mixed vegetable crops and nuts 0.42 ha. From the livestock production, the family currently has 6 Angus cattle, 10 breeding goats, 13 sheep and 50 poultry (Zagorje turkeys). The family currently has no employees, but all activities related to agricultural production are performed exclusively by the holder and members of the family. Since the family farm has been operating since 2003 and is continuously engaged in a combination of field and livestock production, through many years of business it has gained regular customers at the local and regional level and has not faced the impossibility of selling its own products.
In the future, the family farm will focus on increasing the number of Angus cattle with regard to a larger area for the possibility of grazing in the open, which results in a higher level of meat quality. Due to the traditional connection with the way of life in rural parts of Varaždin County and knowledge of customs and traditions in which people live, and the experience gained, the holder and members of the family have additional motivation to offer products produced on their own property to future guests as part of providing catering services. project “Investment in starting a tourist activity on the family farm Kočet – Excursion site Kočet”.
