Our company Demetra Alfa d.o.o. from Uljanik near Garešnica is engaged in the organic cultivation of Siberian blueberry (haskap) and the production of mother juice and powder and vinegar from Siberian blueberry (haskap).
Guided by the motto “live and work in harmony with nature”, in 2014 we planted the first Siberian blueberry bushes (haskap) of the Latin Lonicer Caerule in organic cultivation.
Due to the harsh and cold climate in which it originally grows, Siberian blueberry in a short time takes all the best that nature gives and creates a fruit extremely rich in vitamins, minerals and flavonoids. The most common are anthocyanins, which give it a special purple-blue colour, polyphenols, and what makes Siberian blueberry different from all similar berries is “lonicerin”. Lonicerin is a flavonoid that contains only plants from the Lonicera family, and this is the only edible Lonicera. Lonicerin has a strong anti-inflammatory effect on the body.
Due to its medicinal properties, Siberian blueberry (haskap) is represented in folk medicine in the countries of its origin, namely Russia, Japan.
With a lot of enthusiasm and faith in this precious fruit, we started growing it. We now have 20,000 shrubs on our plantation that we plan to grow in the coming period.
